Xiaomi’s Mi Smart Band, or you may just simply say Mi Band as it’s known in China, is undeniably one of the most popular wearables across the world. The feedback it has got till the launch of its 6th generation clearly signifies it as a small, lightweight, and value-for-money wearable which does a ton of stuff. Let’s see Mi Band 6: A worthy upgrade over Mi Band 5?
If we check out the previous generation of Mi band which is Mi Band 5, there were two major upgrades, one a larger OLED screen and another magnetic charging which was not seen in Mi band 4.
But this time Xiaomi has packed a lot more features in comparison with the previous gen. Here is our small overview of Mi band 6.
There is a major upgrade on the display side in comparison with its previous generation. Mi Band 6 comes with a 1.56″ AMOLED screen with sharp 326ppi resolution (152×486 px) up from 1.1″ (29×126 px, 326ppi). It’s an edge-to-edge panel with the same shape as the band, including the round top and bottom.

Mi Band 6 Specifications
The Mi Band 6 as its previous generation works with the Mi Fit app which is available for free on both android & iOS. It can do heart-rate measurements, sleep tracking, sports tracking, show notifications, act as a camera shutter, control your default music player, and has the usual alarm/timer/stopwatch functions. PAI – Personal Activity Intelligence mode and Stress calculations, Breathing exercise, and tracking female cycles are also present like Mi Band 5.
But there is a slight upgrade this time, Band 6 also offers SpO2 measurements and even more sports modes. It improves sleep tracking with SpO2 measurements and breathing quality options, though these two reduce the battery life significantly.
Battery life and charging
The Mi Band 6 has the same 125mAh battery as the Mi Band 5. Surprisingly though after the addition of many features, Xiaomi still promises the same battery life which is around 2 weeks in the normal usage.
The Mi Band 6 requires about 2 hours to recharge from 5% to 100% through the magnetic charger we get in the box.
|Small, lightweight, waterproof, and easily Compatible with Mi Band 5 straps.||No NFC (on the global version). If you want NFC you have to go for the Chinese Version.|
|Excellent battery life with magnetic charger & comes with SpO2.||Not that good at sleep tracking.|

A worthy upgrade over Mi Band 5?
As per our view, yes the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 surely seems like a worthy upgrade over the Mi Band 5. It has a larger edge-to-edge display, supports SpO2 tracking, and in COVID-times which was absent in Mi band 5. Though there is not any change in design or the strap still we think the added sensors and display could be a reason for upgrading from its previous gen.
Mi band 6 is priced at Rs. 5,999 and you can easily find it Soon in all Xiaomi authorized stores across Nepal.
